Have you heard of Marche? There is SO much to do i Have you heard of Marche? There is SO much to do in this underrated region! 🇮🇹 (ACTIVITIES guide below – SAVE this post for your trip planning!)

(Comment MARCHE for our guide with details on these places, plus how to take this trip as e-bike adventure!)

New here? Hi, we’re Ketti 🇺🇸 and Emanuele 🇮🇹! @tiltedmap helps you find more sustainable travel options in Italy and beyond. Follow if you’re passionate about sustainability – or to join us on an e-bike trip here!

TOP ACTIVITIES in ITALY’S MARCHE REGION:

📜 We’ve had fantastic times doing paper-making workshops with a local artist who also makes notebooks, purses, lampshades and lots of other surprising things from his artisan paper!

🚴‍♀️ Marche is a FANTASTIC place for outdoor fun, and especially mountain biking! We’ve done two multi-day e-bike trips here with @basecamp523 . They’re a local company with great guides and shiny new bikes! 👉 You can join us on an e-bike trip, or use the code TILTEDMAP when you book for 10% off their day trips or multi-day adventures.

🏞️ The Frasassi cave system is the second largest in all of Europe! You can tour the caves, which are probably the best known tourist destination in the inland part of Marche.

🏖️ The Adriatic coast of Marche is rugged and stunning – but still FAR less famous than Italian seaside destinations like Sicily, the Amalfi Coast, or Sardinia. The town of Sirolo is the center of all, with rocky beaches and endless seafood restaurants. 👉 Follow for Part 3 for the food scene!

🐴 The Conero Regional Park, in Sirolo, is a perfect destination for kayaking on the Adriatic, hiking, horseback riding, and mountain biking! This area is known as the “Riviera del Conero” for a reason!

👉 Which activity would YOU sign up for first?

✨ Follow @tiltedmap for Part 3 of our Marche travel guide – all about food & wine! (And go catch up on Part 1 for hotels!)

🏨 HOTELS – SAVE this for your trip planning!

We’ve stayed in lots of gorgeous, locally owned hotels in the Marche region. A few favorites:

— In Fabriano, La Portella B&B: small, traditional Italian-style hotel with small rooms, a great breakfast & views of the medieval town center.

— Hotel Residenza La Ceramica: a bit more formal, elegant & spacious, right in the center of Fabriano.

— Hotel Le Grotte: perfect escape in the mountains with a spa, massage, restaurant & outdoor pools.

— Tenuta San Marcello: organic & biodynamic winery with modern rooms & AMAZING views.

— View Place Numana: 5-star hotel on Marche’s “Riviera del Conero” coast with a FANTASTIC spa (best massage ever) & a Michelin stared restaurant that served us a tasting menu of local seafood AND a 100% VEGAN menu.

📅 WHEN TO GO:

— Avoid August almost anywhere in Italy – it’s when all Italians are on vacation. July & early September are also busy.
— Weather is lovely & crowds are almost non existent in May, June, late September & into October.

🚆 HOW TO GET THERE:

— Marche is easily accessible from Italy’s capital, Rome (FCO). (It’s also a main airport, where you’re most likely to get a direct flight.)
— Direct trains Rome ➡️ Fabriano take 2-3 hours.

💃 WHAT TO DO:

🚴‍♂️ Rent a bike for a day (or do a multi-day guided e-bike tour) with @basecamp523 , the local guides we’ve traveled with for years. (+ save 10% on your booking with the code TILTEDMAP )

2️⃣ 🔜 Follow @tiltedmap for PART 2 for more of the best activities in Marche!
